Frate was born at the Ivey Business School by a former D1 Hockey Player and Software Engineer, where our founders came together with a shared vision to solve the challenges of ecommerce returns.

A customer held onto their item, it was listed back on Prana Vida Style's Shopify store at a discount as an "EcoDrop", another customer bought it, it was shipped to them by the returner, it was received in perfect condition. All in 5 days. We were onto something.

Since day-one, we've always wanted to spend as much time as possible in person together. The first office wasn't glamorous, but it did the trick. The co-founders basically lived out of it.

We knew if we were going to realize our vision of fixing returns, we had to start with the basics. We released a state-of-the-art returns and exchanges portal, that optimized for exchanges better than anyone in the industry.

Our partners had a problem - returns coming back worn. So we introduced mobile-image upload. The new problem? Agents couldn't look at image. The new solution? Frate's AI Verification product that can assess the condition of items through a single photo with 99% accuracy.

We pioneered a concept called "Optimized Returns Routing." The concept was simple, but technically complex: based on an item's condition, return reason, category, and other factors; route returns to it's most profit-preserving destination. That could be the warehouse, but may also be a liquidation centre, donation facility, or another paying customer. Less shipping trips = more profits.

We have the fuel to grow, and realize our vision of making reverse-logistics better, for everyone.

We're not just solving the online returns problem - we're now tackling in-store returns to unify the entire returns journey.
